BCC Cigar Review: God of Fire
The Carlito Fuente version is bolder than traditional Carlito blends, thanks mostly to the brimming Dominican fillers. Its Cameroon wrapper is dark and toothy with minor vein presentations, delivering a spicy smoke that resembles the Case Fuente blend. This handmade stick is tightly packed and carries a chocolaty foot.
The pre-light draw echoes sweet herbs and honey that carry through to the earthy flavor in the first third. There is a stimulating aroma that combines caramel and savory cigar smoke. A subtle nutty dimension contributes to an extremely smooth, clean and fresh finish. Eventually the honey returns with hints of woodiness. The flavors hang longer here than initially and remain consistent through the end.
The Don Carlos, though similar to traditional Don Carlos sticks, has a unique flavor all its own. The Ecuadorian wrapper is aesthetically pleasing, despite small veins and slight discolorations. Along with the foot, it gives an earthy musk odor and is consistently packed with Nicaraguan filler.
While the cool draw gave a sweet tobacco taste, it was overpowered by an immediate spice in the first third. There was no stretch period with this cigar- it jumped right into the ring. A woody flavor took over the peppery taste and evolved into strong cedar notes with a nutty background in the second third. It was also here that a creaminess developed as the smoke thickened, coating the mouth with lingering, complex flavor.
Both varieties provide a smooth, full-bodied yet refined flavor without requiring burn adjustments. If you’re looking for an effortless and intricate smoke, the God of Fire series is right up your alley. They’re now in stock at both locations.
